The Free Year Holds Up

Pay for formation through Inc Authority and a full year in the agent chair is thrown in at zero. We prodded the offer the way a rival would, checking for a setup charge, a term quietly shorter than it sounds, or the value being recovered through some adjacent line. Nothing turned up. A new Kansas business watching its opening balance is being given twelve months of a legal requirement for free, which is a plain benefit, and we have no interest in talking you out of it.

Year Two Has No Number

Comparison stops working at month thirteen. Nowhere in the company's public material is there a stated price for keeping the agent once the included year expires. We are not going to guess at it, and you should distrust any competitor page that does. The structural objection survives without a number. Kansas obliges an entity to keep somebody in that role for as long as it stays registered, which makes the renewal price, whatever it proves to be, the amount that governs this line item over the life of the company. Year one is the smaller half of the decision and the only half anyone has shown you.

Kansas Publishes Its Prices. It Even Cuts Them.

There is a pointed contrast available here, and it comes from the state itself.

Consider what the formation package is actually handling. A Kansas LLC comes into existence when Articles of Organization go to the Secretary of State on the filing the state labels form DL, and Kansas assigns letter codes to its business forms rather than numbers. As of February 27, 2026 that filing costs $85 online or $90 on paper, mandatory add-on charges included. Until then it was $160 online and $165 on paper. Kansas reduced the price of forming a company by nearly half and published the change in advance.

So the state charges $85, says so on the form, and tells you when the amount changes. The vendor bundling that $85 filing with an open-ended subscription will not tell you what the subscription costs after the first year. One of those two parties is making it easy to plan.

There is a second asymmetry worth naming. Formation is a task. It happens once, produces a certificate, and ends. The agent appointment on the very same order is a tenancy with no end date built into it. Packaging the two together makes the tenancy feel like part of a one-off purchase at exactly the moment its recurring price has gone unmentioned.
